How do I research business incorporation records?

Answer

The Ohio Secretary of State's Office is responsible for registering companies to do business in Ohio and maintains an online business search for incorporation records of active businesses.

We hold the following collections:  
Index to records of incorporation SAS 3081
Scope and Contents: Includes corporation number, name of company or association, date of filing of articles of incorporation, volume, page number, and remarks. May include date of subscription to capital stock and date of increase or decrease of capital stock. Dates: 1852-1969

Records of incorporation SAS 3080
Scope and Contents: Includes date, name of business, type of business, location, signatures of incorporators, and (if business is for profit) amount of capital and number of shares. May also include stock subscription certificates, dissolution certificates, equipment contracts, and amendments to articles of incorporation. Dates: 1852-1951
