What are Quadrennial Enumerations?

Answer

Quadrennial Enumerations were produced by either the county auditor or the clerk of the county court of common pleas. They list of male residents 21 years of age and over in each township. These records were used to determine election districts. The records do not include information about families. A quadrennial enumeration is a list of voters in election districts in the county.

We do not hold all Ohio county Quadrennial Enumerations. You can search our Archives catalog with the term quadrennial enumeration* and the name of a county to see our holdings related to a particular Ohio county.
