What is a Bertillon card?

Answer

A Bertillon card is a form of prisoner identification including measurements, a standardized photograph, (front and profile view), the notation of identifying marks such as scars and tattoos, and identification number. French anthropologist Alphonse Bertillon created a system of criminal identification based on physical measurement used before the advent of fingerprint identification. The system was adopted by the Ohio Penitentiary in 1887.
