Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio was a Union training camp and a Confederate prison camp during the U.S. Civil War. It also served as a parole camp early in the war.

A parole camp was a place where Union soldiers on parole could be kept by their own side, in a non-combat role. The idea being that eventually the Union and Confederates would have a formal exchange of an equal number of prisoners, and then the parolees could return to the ranks. This practice ending before the end of the Civil War.
